The father deserted Sally Anne’s mother, Virginia Niles, shortly after she became pregnant. Virginia’s eldest sister was a muggle-born witch who frequently brought her friends home to their small flat in London. The Niles were a generous family and although poor, embraced any visitors. It was only a matter of time before someone took advantage of the naïve Virginia who, although lacking her sister’s magical powers, was in love with the world of magic. Infatuated with a young pureblood wizard named Chad Perks, Virginia was determined to marry into magic in order to enter a world she’d otherwise never know. When she became pregnant, instead of getting married, she was abandoned. Devastated, Virginia nevertheless kept the child and raised little Sally Anne with the help of her parents. Everyone was delighted to learn of Sally Anne’s first magic act: when a little boy stole her balloon, Sally Anne merely crossed her arms, stared at the balloon and popped it. Chad’s sympathetic brother, Theodore, approached the Niles and offered to raise Sally Anne as his own and tutor her until she would receive her letter to Hogwarts. Virginia happily agreed knowing it was better for her daughter, but remained in close contact. Her time at Hogwarts was confusing for her. She was sorted into Ravenclaw where she made many friends, but the injustice of blood prejudice boiled within her. She dropped out half way through her 5th year after an emotional breakdown. She had resolved to quit her magical life but her uncle finally talked her back into schooling. She spent the rest of her fifth year with private tutors and managed to pass enough OWLs to re-enter Hogwarts at the beginning of her 6th year. She was active in SPEW later in her career and loved watching quidditch. She excelled in Transfigurations and spent most of her time immersed in History of Magic, studying the waves of blood prejudice. Sally Anne, for all the world knows, is happily married to Slytherin graduate Chris Warrington. The Warringtons are a typical, pureblood, well-respected family who have managed to squander most of their money, but none of their blood. Until, of course, Chris met Sally Anne. Sally Anne is the perfect pureblood wife: she cooks, she cleans, she submits to her husband, and she’s beautiful. It was her uncle who ultimately introduced her to the Warringtons, claiming her as his own child and thus assuring her pureblood status. He falsified documents and brought her into the Wizards for Muggles party, introducing her also to those in charge of the ultra-secret Plan Equal scheme. Sally Anne was interested and wanted right on the front lines. It was only a short set-up with Chris and Sally Anne worked her own brand of magic and they were quickly married. It should be noted Sally Anne genuinely cares for Chris but wishes they could have met under different circumstances. Although she is becoming closer and closer to him she tries to keep some distance so that she can be objective about the Plan. Unfortunately Chris is nothing like most other stuffy, self-assured purebloods and Sally Anne occasionally wonders if she has made the wrong choice. But she cannot have her cake and eat it too and so she steels her hatred of blood injustice and continues on. Sally Anne, therefore, fights for the light side but she cannot truly be called “good.” She’s as fanatic to her cause as any Renegade and more than a bit crazy. She leads a dual life, serving her husband and her party, and she can switch personalities like a light switch, as necessary. Her rage over the abandonment of her mother at the hands of a pureblood was only intensified but the reappearance of Voldemort. If Voldemort could wipe out all mix bloods, then why, reasoned Sally Anne, couldn’t a dedicated group destroy pureblood supremacy once and for all? She believes wholly in equality for all (including house elves and other magical non-humans) and her dual lives do share basically the same personality: stubborn, tenacious and very social. She enjoys networking, cuddling with Chrissy-poo, watching quidditch and plotting along with the Wizards for Muggles. Astrology: Curiosity killed the cat; satisfaction brought it back. If ever a wizard exhibited a danger of self destruction from too much knowledge, surely it was a Ravenclaw Scorpio. It doesn't matter whether the pet obsession this week is botany, Muggle pop music, or the history of the Necronomicon, if a Ravenclaw Scorpio wants to know about it, then he will, and damn the consequences: full speed ahead. Indeed, just mention that a subject is "forbidden" and you'll see a peculiar light shine in their eyes. They sneak into locked rooms after dark, and forge passes to the restricted library sections. The lust for arcane knowledge is both the greatest strength of these wizards, and the Achilles heel. It's best to indulge them whenever possible and let the obsession burn itself out; and, when this is not possible, to explain in great detail and absolutely *no* patronizing why the subject must not be explored. These Ravenclaws are quiet and secretive, but don't be fooled by that calm and placid exterior; they have hidden depths. | |||||||||
